These essential oils are two must-have’s for any home, the multi-uses for each make them extremely versatile. Lavender essential oil is a natural antihistamine making it our first choice for anything that needs some calming, like bug bites, itches, sunburn, skin irritations, abrasions, and burns. Lavender, peppermint and lime are the oils in TriEase and help with seasonal threats making it the oils of choice before raking, spending a lot of time outside in the Spring or in the yard during the nice weather.

Lavender is also a wonderful oil to diffuse in a bedroom to promote restful sleep or anywhere in the home for overall calming and relaxation. It can be rubbed in the hands and inhaled from cupped palms, rubbed on the nape of the neck or soles of the feet.

When used for emotional healing, Lavender is the Oil of Communication and Calm. It can help with verbal expression and calming the mind. By inhaling from the bottle or cupped hands, you are able to breathe in the calming and refreshing scent and address negative emotions of racing thoughts, blocked communication or fear to encourage emotional honesty, self-awareness and peace of mind.

“Lavender means ‘to wash’ in Latin. It is likely the most used essential oil globally, and for good reason, as it serves in all things calming! When in doubt use lavender!” – The Essential Life

Peppermint also has quite a variety of uses. It can be inhaled for a boost to alertness or energy, rubbed on the spine, back of neck or bottoms of feet for a cooling effect, rubbed on targeted areas before exercise to avoid stiffness afterwards, applied under the tongue or to toothpaste for freshening breath, applied to skin irritations to help ease sting, itch or mild pain. I have use peppermint on my temples, base of skull and back of neck to help ease headache but the most common uses for peppermint in our home are for digestive issues and energy. Peppermint essential oil can help ease stomach upset by placing a drop under the tongue, 2-3 drops in water and swallowed or rubbed directly on the lower abdomen. Peppermint is often found in my kitchen diffuser in the morning to help the sluggish family members feel a little more energized before going to work or school. It comes in very handy as the week goes on!

In dealing with the emotions, Peppermint is the Oil of Buoyant Heart, bringing joy to the heart and soul. It helps to invigorate the mind, body and spirit and reminds us that life can be happy. The benefits of peppermint are noticed most when we are feeling discouraged or in despair, assisting us to regain the strength needed to face emotional reality.

Peppermint, with it’s stimulant qualities, and lavender, with it’s sedative qualities, make a great combination.             -The Essential Life
